We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Engineer-in-Training to join its collaborative and dynamic Land Development team in Houston, TX. You will serve a key role in RG Miller by assisting our team of engineers in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks through the design and development of land projects, including site grading, drainage, roadway and utility infrastructure, and site plan layouts. In this role, you will work under the guidance of licensed professional engineers, providing you with the necessary skills and opportunities to grow in your career.
What you will do:
- Using prescribed engineering methods – collect data and gathers information; prepares drawings and visual aids; periodically observes construction activities; performs basic survey work
- Applies standard engineering practices and techniques – adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results, and follows operations through a series of detailed steps and processes
- Assists in the preparation of engineering improvements plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit application for subdivisions, commercial developments, multi-family developments, private development projects, and/or public works projects
- Coordinates project assignments with the peer group
- Occasionally attend “kick-off” and design review meetings, as required
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
- E.I.T. Certification
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Programs
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD
- Knowledgeable of engineering principles
- Demonstrate excellent time management skills and be able to complete assigned tasks within deadlines
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
- Possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to prioritize competing tasks
- Maintain a professional appearance and behavior
- Attentive and approachable. Able to navigate a dynamic and collaborative work environment
- Well organized and detail oriented
